Clinical Services
Clinical services are essential elements of the cancer centre that deliver diagnostic, treatment and supportive care services. They include a wide range of services that must be effectively integrated to provide co-ordinated, efficient care. For each service, we have applied a standard approach to describe the goals and scope, physical facilities, equipment, human resources and information management needs, management and quality considerations, best practices, guidelines and future trends. While inpatient and outpatient/ambulatory care do not reflect clinical services, they are important care delivery settings that must be considered in relation to the clinical services offered. In some settings, pharmacy and emergency care could be considered core services; however, we have opted to include them as clinical services because they include direct patient care.
